Jury question: "As a nurse what are your typical duties?"
Mendoza: "On the 1st visit it was to... partially provide medical assistance... if there was a need."
"We escorted him to the bathroom."
"On the 2nd visit I assisted with the initial intake of [the gunman.]"
- New Witness
Defense calls John Gonglach, investigator for the defense team.
Gonglach collected writings from the gunman on Feb. 28, 2014.
Gonglach said he visited the gunman in the jail unit at the hospital in Nov. 2012.
Gonglach identifies 30 minutes of surveillance video of the gunman in a room in the jail unit at the hospital in Nov. 2012. (No audio on video.)
Court is on morning break until 11 a.m.
Next witness is Dr. Raquel Gur, per Dan King.
Dr. Gur next is an expert in schizophrenia and is expected to testify the gunman was insane.
Prosecution objects to use of slides during Dr. Gur's testimony.
D.A. George Brauchler: "We spent hours trying to get [Dr. Gur] to type up her notes... I don't have that today. This is a complete and utter surprise."
Defense says the evidence/exhibit includes a transcript of Dr. Gur's interview.
Judge: "Why weren't these [exhibits] provided earlier?"
Dan King: "Frankly, she just came in on a plane."
King: "I sent [the exhibits] to Brauchler so he'd have 3 days to review them... It's just the trial process, Your Honor."
