Gur needs to listen to the questions and not pre-answer them. There can be reasons to not be board certified, but because everyone places so much credence on it, it should have been explained why/why not in establishing her expertise...not just 'hey you have all these credentials, I move to admit her as an expert' GOD the defense is terrible
Just decided to take a look at the comments here and wish I hadn't. Lots of comments here by people more impressed with their own cleverness than by the fact that this is a murder trial.
Oh my goodness, she is a legend in her own mind. This kind of testimony is not really effective...King should limit her to simply listing her professional credentials, which are impressive. She is going way to far in trying to convince us that she is at the top of her profession.
It is quite unfortunate that she has no board certifications, I like this witness. She is very personable. Granted I have a background in psychology and neuroscience so I see where she is coming from entirely about lack of publications concerning the brain and its effects on behavior. That realm has expanded exponentially within the last 10 years even.
MANY MDs in academia are board certified regardless of multiple areas of expertise/, previous degrees. This makes no sense. If she plans to testify with clinical expertise, don't think this will be lost on the jury, regardless of instructions. I really do not think this was a best effort on the part of the DT.
Don't be too glib, this is a highly intelligent and capable woman...the lack of Board Cert is grist for the legal mill but she has skillz as the kids say
