Day 34 in the Aurora movie theater shooting trial – People vs. James Eagan Holmes. Today, CU psychiatrist Dr. Feinstein will return to the stand. During the course of the trial, prosecutors will argue that Holmes, the admitted gunman, was sane when he went into the midnight premiere of the Dark Knight Rises in an Aurora, Colo., movie theater and opened fire on the audience, killing 12 and wounding 70. His defense attorneys will try to spare Holmes’ life by arguing that he was insane. 7NEWS and TheDenverChannel.com will have gavel to gavel coverage of the trial starting at 8:15 a.m. (MST) everyday and ending around 5:30 p.m. (MST) Watch new live video on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/7NewsDenver/live Additional resources:LIVE VIDEO & BLOG: http://bit.ly/theatertrialTIMELINE of the case: http://bit.ly/theatertimelineJURY PROFILE: http://bit.ly/theaterjury CONTINUING COVERAGE: http://bit.ly/theatercoverage

i bet there are a lot of jose lopez.' he had no way to know it was the one he knew.
by doggett6/18/2015 10:34:04 PM
@Anica thank you that was my thought as well its a common name and since they only play F Football he might not know what he does for work or much about his personal life!
by LG6/18/2015 10:34:09 PM
@okx--Fenton was a good enough psychiatrist to bring in another psychiatrist in a further attempt to help Holmes. You are speculating when you say JH "wanted help". It's not at all clear that he actually wanted help. It is just as likely that he wanted a future insanity defense. Mediocre credentials? Well...I'll leave that to you to evaluate. I looked at her CV at the CU website and it clearly shows that she is a trained clinical psychiatrist. I'm sure there are "better" ones and "worse" ones in practice. I personally doubt whether Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung themselves would have been able to stop James Holmes if he was truly bent on carrying out his secret plans. But, some people will always know better...that 20/20 hindsight thing, I guess.

These list of witnesses that the jury review should also be accompanied by a photo esp. a photo of them as they look on Facebook. That should eliminate more instances of the jurists knowing the witnesses.

to those of you who have had no experience with real courtroom proceedings, this is how it really works...delays, objections, legal issues, things that appear a waste of time or silly, there is a purpose behind all of it, this is nothing like tv trials. - paralegal for 25 years.

Just Tuned back in, is court done for the day? or are they on a break?
by BROSE6/18/2015 10:34:57 PM
Let's see....Goober's not to blame. Bobbo's not to blame. Gargi's not to blame. James Holmes certainly is not to blame. Ah, must be Dr. Fenton and Dr. Feinstein who are to blame. Yeah, that's it. Gosh.
by flip6/18/2015 10:35:05 PM
So, JH went from his psych appointment on May 22 right to Gander Mountain? Wow.
by DocJ6/18/2015 10:38:16 PM
Any connection that the Gander Mountain Store being number 420 in Colorado?!?!?! lol
by Victoria6/18/2015 10:38:21 PM
@flip. That was my conclusion as to blame after listening to DT's cross of Feinstein. Like all blame should lie squarely on his and Fenton's shoulders.
by NH6/18/2015 10:38:30 PM
DT does not want another video of JH actually buying the guns
by mandi6/18/2015 10:38:34 PM
@brose - not done yet. DT objection
by NH6/18/2015 10:38:35 PM
by BROSE6/18/2015 10:39:52 PM
Higgs is one annoying woman
by Tjq6/18/2015 10:39:56 PM
@docj - I didn't make that connection yet. Wow. Poignant. Thanks.
by NH6/18/2015 10:39:57 PM
@NH--Are you dating Higgs? LOL.
by flip6/18/2015 10:40:18 PM
Sorry, he as 21, but he looks like a baby. I'm getting old!
by Tammy Garrison6/18/2015 10:40:23 PM
Wait, sorry so with a DT objection what has it showing a recorded segment?
by BROSE6/18/2015 10:41:18 PM
@ flip - why?
by NH6/18/2015 10:41:20 PM
They have approached enough

"Snap caps" are dummy rounds used for function testing firearms, Lopez explains.
by anica.padilla6/18/2015 10:41:53 PM
@docj how soon after. your saying same day. did he buy it before or after
by bob6/18/2015 10:42:00 PM
@DocJ: those are the kind of things I wish the prosecutions would point out more....
by Stephany6/18/2015 10:42:04 PM
finally got that one in!!
by mandi6/18/2015 10:42:06 PM
the better the defense is now, makes it harder on his appeals if he is found guilty and sent to death. So It's good if they do a good job.
by bob6/18/2015 10:45:12 PM
@flip - think you misunderstood my tone. Was saying that's what DT wants jury to feel. It's ludicrous. Personally I think it's solely JH.
by NH6/18/2015 10:45:15 PM
@NH----"@flip. That was my conclusion as to blame after listening to DT's cross of Feinstein. Like all blame should lie squarely on his and Fenton's shoulders"
by flip6/18/2015 10:45:19 PM
Well, the receipt said 4-something p.m., so I am assuming it was after the appointment. We were not told what time of the day his appointments were at, but he seemed to get a lot of stuff done after 4 p.m. regarding all his purchases. They all seem to have a 4 p.m.-ish time stamp.
by DocJ6/18/2015 10:45:27 PM
So JH bought three guns, on three occasions. right?
by bob6/18/2015 10:45:31 PM
If people take issue with the docs not doing enough, take it up with medical boards. They are following the rules that those boards set up. HIPAA rules are very specific, of which, Fenton broke the rule and risked her license trying to go above and beyond. Psychiatric holds are very specific in order so that doctors don't overstep their bounds. If you take issues with why the docs couldn't do more, don't take it to their doorstep, take it to DORA (Dept of Regulatory Agencies).
by Marsha Laurienti6/18/2015 10:46:38 PM
Thought he had four guns
by deb6/18/2015 10:46:40 PM
@NH---"@flip - think you misunderstood my tone." Naw, I was just joking with you, NH, that's what LOL is for...
by flip6/18/2015 10:47:27 PM
He bought 2 at once. I think it was at Bass Pro that he got the AR-15 & a glock, but I'm not possitive.
by Tammy Garrison6/18/2015 10:50:32 PM
@DocJ So sounds like he was just checking the DR. off the list like buying a gun or ammo
by bob6/18/2015 10:50:34 PM
Holmes bought an AR-15 rifle, a Remington 12-guage 870 shotgun, and two 40-caliber Glock handguns.
by CindyL6/18/2015 10:50:39 PM
@flip O_o Bad joke. Wouldn't want to date her. Her flying hand gestures might whack me during a conversation.
by NH6/18/2015 10:50:44 PM
surprised that Gander Mountain doesn't have video camera at gun sales counter
by mandi6/18/2015 10:50:47 PM
@Marsha - I agree with you. It is starting to appear, however, that the defense is going to try and say it was the doctor's fault that JH was at-large and able to commit these murders.
by DocJ6/18/2015 10:50:52 PM
That lawyer and her little microphone box on her hip is annoying. Just speak into the one in front of you. Geez.
by Marsha Laurienti6/18/2015 10:50:57 PM
@Flip Are you a Dr.?
by Sally Mander6/18/2015 10:50:59 PM
Jurors are being released a little early today. Leaving court now.
by anica.padilla6/18/2015 10:51:25 PM
I find Ms. Higgs' continual gesticulation distracting. I can't tell if she is trying to swat bugs or bring a plane into the terminal.
by Katatt6/18/2015 10:52:37 PM
It's a poor defense. The rules set up by the State back their actions.
