Aurora movie theater shooting trial day 34: CU psychiatrist Dr. Feinstein to return to the stand
Day 34 in the Aurora movie theater shooting trial – People vs. James Eagan Holmes. Today, CU psychiatrist Dr. Feinstein will return to the stand. During the course of the trial, prosecutors will argue that Holmes, the admitted gunman, was sane when he went into the midnight premiere of the Dark Knight Rises in an Aurora, Colo., movie theater and opened fire on the audience, killing 12 and wounding 70. His defense attorneys will try to spare Holmes’ life by arguing that he was insane. 7NEWS and TheDenverChannel.com will have gavel to gavel coverage of the trial starting at 8:15 a.m. (MST) everyday and ending around 5:30 p.m. (MST) Watch new live video on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/7NewsDenver/live Additional resources:LIVE VIDEO & BLOG: http://bit.ly/theatertrialTIMELINE of the case: http://bit.ly/theatertimelineJURY PROFILE: http://bit.ly/theaterjury CONTINUING COVERAGE: http://bit.ly/theatercoverage
@ docj - until deliberations the jury doesn't know who is jury and who is alternates.
by NH6/18/2015 5:24:28 PM
@DocJ...typically alternates are not allowed to deliberate among themselves...more importantly if a deliberating juror drops for any reason and is replaced by an alternate...all deliberations must begin anew

@jennifer, in a study done in NYC in 2012 it showed that it costs 168,000.00 a year to house a prisoner. Medical, food, housing, staffing, etc.
by deb6/18/2015 5:25:30 PM
agree PA but do they pay during days when court in not in session? I think they need a court signed document to say they attended, no?

Osterberg identifies the gunman's academic records from UC Riverside.

@docj - sorry misread your question...
by NH6/18/2015 5:26:02 PM
I meant during deliberations. Phil said (I think) that the jurors are then separated out at that time with alternates in one room and the deliberators in another doing the deliberation. I just wonder what the alternates do.
by DocJ6/18/2015 5:27:08 PM
@deb- Again, it varies greatly depending on the factors I mentioned.

Ouch, Tammy G. My father-in=law had that done a couple of months ago. I hope it helps you.
by DocJ6/18/2015 6:08:28 PM
Anyone else read the body language of the attorneys when they're at the bench? King always looks like he's clinging to the edge of a swimming pool to keep from drowning...
by jward126/18/2015 6:08:34 PM
@ Tammy I need that for my back issues!

What time does court begin in the morning?
by Charleen Hamilton6/18/2015 6:08:52 PM
exactly why they use this as training video now. Do not make those shackles loose!
by TLR6/18/2015 6:08:54 PM
Oh brother!
by Suzanne6/18/2015 6:08:55 PM
What was the point to the video? I know the Deputy was telling him that it is time to go to court, but was this to show was he legally sane or insane?
by EZ6/18/2015 6:08:57 PM
Oh please
by 19186/18/2015 6:13:26 PM

@Charleen Hamilton- Around 8:35 to 8:40 ish. Jurors are there at 8:15.
by EZ6/18/2015 6:13:38 PM
Wah. Don't like sitting somewhere with nothing to do? Don't kill people.
by jward126/18/2015 6:13:43 PM
he looks pretty sane to me.....
by briannam0niqu36/18/2015 6:13:45 PM
@NeuroNonsense, I think in some, brilliance breeds insanity.
by Resa6/18/2015 6:13:51 PM
I think that there is something hat has been withheld from us, like he got out of the shackles and smirked at the police officer before something important was said or done but the DT doesn't want us to know about it.
by Stephany6/18/2015 6:14:01 PM
They asked him one question about the video with a sustained answer and now it's done?
by Angela Freeman6/18/2015 6:14:04 PM
@EZ--Everything the prosecution does is toward proving Holmes was and is sane.
by flip6/18/2015 6:14:07 PM
@morgan - Watch what?
by Angela Freeman6/18/2015 6:19:24 PM
Oh, that was what I thought at first. Thanks flip
by EZ6/18/2015 6:19:26 PM
I don't think so. I don't think the judge would sustain an objection to information that JH got out of his shackles.
by Angela Freeman6/18/2015 6:19:28 PM
@NeuroNonsense: I've read that 1/2 of congress is Bipolar!
by MarcyScala6/18/2015 6:19:30 PM
Spengler says, "We're not stipulating quite as much as you thought...even though we fully admit that Holmes did it".
by flip6/18/2015 6:19:36 PM
Well it's pretty obvious we were about to find out what he was doing but the judge denied it.
by Della (Me)6/18/2015 6:19:38 PM
Thank goodness the prosecution did not fall for all of the DT's previous b.s. about "fully stipulating" this, that, and everything except his sanity. So now they are trying to cast doubt about the origin of e-mails that Holmes wrote.
