Dr. Weintraub said the gunman told him he saw shadows that made him afraid.
Dr. Weintraub on the gunman: "It was hard to follow his train of thought."
Dr. Weintraub felt the gunman began to improve but said, "I still felt he was sufficiently psychotic that I didn't want to move him [to a jail.]"
Dr. Winetraub: Gunman could have had a psychiatric episode triggered by a traumatic experience in jail, or it could have been an underlying condition.
Prosecution cross-examining Dr. Winetraub.
