to all of the Gur haters, maybe this is why she doesn't often take on cases where she testifies. maybe she knows she sucks at it. maybe she thought was important. i doubt if she did it for money or fame
by caz7/8/2015 10:29:00 PM
@LG: AC just asked Dr. Gur about it.
by Kristle7/8/2015 10:29:13 PM
okx - Dr Gur has shown herself to be completely inconsistent in her thinking, her testimony, and lacks credibility. Do you think the DT would be stupid enough to hire a shrink who believes in the death penalty ? Remember, her husband advocates against the death penalty.
by Dave Campbell7/8/2015 10:29:15 PM
@okx If you commit a crime as directed by our legal system you are a criminal. There may be an underlying mental disease that accompanies it, but it is a crime nevertheless
by Just Thinkin7/8/2015 10:29:21 PM
Has she been asked how much she is being paid?
by jerry7/8/2015 10:29:28 PM
In a small way I understand Dr. Gur getting so upset/defensive. I say "in a small way" because I used to get the same way if someone questioned my research (but I am thin-skinned and immature). That said, Dr. Gur should have thicker skin than that and been better prepared. Her experience and position at U Penn should have made her able to respond to such questioning more calmly. (Sorry for long comment)

How Can anyone not be against JH? In this case IMOP there is no not guilty by reason of insanity verdict.
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:29:41 PM
after all, the fact that she did a crappy job will probably allow most people to get what they wanted--the death penalty. y'all should be thanking her
by caz7/8/2015 10:29:57 PM
"That ain't me, that ain't my face. It wasn't even me when I was trying to be that face. I wasn't even really me them; I was just being the way I looked, the way people wanted.” A mate sent me this about JH that a connection he might have "copied" from a film?
by Nicko7/8/2015 10:30:03 PM
@SMH, yes I have been listening. The fact that things are NOT in her report does not mean that what is in her report is incorrect. All it means is she did not put everything in her report, which is not unusual.
by Alison7/8/2015 10:30:10 PM
The defense needs to ask "Does spelling, grammar, and organization" mean he's not psychotic?"
by Lynn7/8/2015 10:30:16 PM
@ FMM - I didn't know either and asked. Several people replied.

Ted Kazynski's manifesto was quite well written, but delusional...
by Lynn7/8/2015 10:30:22 PM
Dr Gur can suddenly answer yes and no. Hoping to get on an earlier plane?
by Ann7/8/2015 10:30:30 PM
@jerry, I think they should. Didn't they ask Reid about the costs he's accrued from working on this trial?
by Kels7/8/2015 10:30:34 PM
The "expert" witnesses get paid a lot of money to testify and to formulate their professional opinions. As a result they open themselves up to being brutally examined and crossed examined. It's difficult to feel sorry for them, they've taken on the job and that's part of it.
by Hill7/8/2015 10:30:41 PM
I meant for JH
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:30:42 PM
@oxk a PhD is a Doctor of Philosopy, but we do not have degrees in Philosophy. I have a PhD in Neuroscience. Get your facts straight.
by MyraJ7/8/2015 10:31:02 PM
@okx What are your creds? Have a PhD? curious I am! :)
by Grace7/8/2015 10:31:02 PM
The gunman described himself as "rationally insane."
by anica.padilla7/8/2015 10:38:51 PM
@Krisite tks missed it phone call
by LG7/8/2015 10:39:02 PM
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:39:04 PM
If I were JH i'd be freaking out that MY team hired someone like Gur....I'd rather be paying for 700 traffic tickets!
by Ibby7/8/2015 10:39:06 PM
Closing arguments are going to be dramatic!
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:39:09 PM
I forgot. Is Ted Kazensky in a mental institution?
by Kristle7/8/2015 10:39:38 PM
@Anica, Do you have a comment thumbs down option? I think that would help Greatly. JMO
by NT87/8/2015 10:39:48 PM
Sorry, no thumbs down option... you can "heart" it or ignore it.
by anica.padilla7/8/2015 10:40:22 PM
the dt would be foolish to hire an expert witness that was against the death penalty
by caz7/8/2015 10:40:30 PM
@caz - It's an unfair assumption that most people want JH to get the death penalty. There are a lot of people who don't care if it is the death penalty or life in prison - only that he never walks free again.
by SMH7/8/2015 10:40:33 PM
Rephrase.. I meant loll I don't see how anyone can be for what JH has done
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:40:37 PM
@Allison she has contradicted herself numerous times
by Joey7/8/2015 10:40:42 PM
A person can be delusional and still know right from wrong. It seems as though we are forgetting that.
by Hill7/8/2015 10:40:46 PM
Gur's evasiveness does not mean she is a bad witness; it only would appear that way if you disagree with her opinion. Her job is not to agree with everything GB throws at her.
by LawDog7/8/2015 10:40:50 PM
@Tjq. I would vote "not guilty by reason of insanity", based on the evidence I have heard so far. I realize people won't like me for saying that, but oh well.
by Alison7/8/2015 10:40:57 PM
@ caz......but she'll take that stand .......just 1 more time!
by Ibby7/8/2015 10:41:14 PM
AC is rounding third!
by MyraJ7/8/2015 10:41:16 PM
This finally what I wanted to hear. He's doing a nice job right now.
by Rob7/8/2015 10:41:18 PM
Is king going to redirect?
by Tjq7/8/2015 10:41:21 PM
Just got back from picking up hubby at the bus. What writings are they talking about? I don't recall any video game ideas in The Notebook.
by DocJ7/8/2015 10:41:30 PM
This testimony wasn't based on a forensic exam. It's a clinical evaluation. The two are VERY different. Hence, one of the reasons she is getting ripped apart.
by Hill7/8/2015 10:41:36 PM
okx I also would like to know your creds....
by Jeannie7/8/2015 10:41:50 PM
@ Lawdog wherever you are I love the stats every quarter! ;)
by Grace7/8/2015 10:41:51 PM
Did King really think that this wouldn't be brutal?
by Nadine7/8/2015 10:42:08 PM
Kazinsky is in Supermax prison here in Colorado. He made a plea for life in prison, then tried to retract it, and refused to let his lawyers call him insane, which everyone else agreed he was. He tried to represent himself as well but wasn't allowed to.
