Day 2 in the Aurora movie theater shooting trial – People vs. James Eagan Holmes. Today, prosecutors open their case calling witnesses _____? During the course of the trial, prosecutors will argue that Holmes, the admitted gunman, was sane when he went into the midnight premiere of the Dark Knight Rises in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater and opened fire on the audience, killing 12 and wounding 70. @anica, you're doing a good job as moderator as well as your other job duties, Like the old saying goes,, if you have more than one person in a room then sooner or later there will be disagreements. You do what you need to do to keep this blog open to the public.

I think it's important to remember that we have an "adversarial" system. DT has an opportunity to allow her to explain how she arrived at her conclusions on direct and redirect, if they think it helps their case. PT wants to elicit from her only that which strengthens their case.

I agree that Dr. Gur gives off an air of "no it all" and that she should not be in any way questioned about her information. Making excuses for not seeing the parents, and not "picking up the phone". "It didn't work out for me". I believe she did what she was instructed to do by the defense team, including coming up with a quick answer to his sanity/insanity, and the schizophrenic diagnosis. This is what Brauchler is doing a great job of unraveling, including using her very own books she has written about various things she would do before making a diagnosis. Brilliant!
