When testimony begins Wednesday morning in the trial of James Holmes, a former FBI agent will return to the stand to discuss the evidence collected from trash outside the apartment building at 1690 Paris St.

@RWalk - Ask yourself if he was putting on 'a show' for Dr Lynne Fenton. He also smeared excrement on himself whilst he was at the hospital and smashed his head into a wall amongst other things.Would any person in their right mind do such things just to 'put on a show'? You also need to understand the symptoms of Schizophrenia.

@Bradders- I do think the Defendant has mental illness that has declined since the crime but was Sane the night of the crime. I'm still leaving an open mind tho.

@Nadine. I don't generally try to start random conversations with people next to me. And I wouldn't try to talk to somebody that looked like JH, with his crazy eyes and all. Also whoever ended up next to him, if anybody was even there before he got up to go outside, they were probably with somebody and most likely talked to that person instead of the creepy random guy. I don't believe we've heard of anybody sitting next to him but we've heard from a guy that claims to have sat behid JH

@Joey, Meh was my pleasure, no thanks are ever necessary. My view is tainted a bit having had federal, and various states training. But I do understand 95% of what is going on here. Some of it is a bit cloudy having never served in Colorado.

@ABrandt: my understanding is that some states let you go from a mental hospital if your are deemed "cured", others send you to prison to finish your sentence after being deemed "cured". I am not sure which is true for Colorado.

@Amy: How do you know his exact state after the shooting? You don't. None of us do. We can make assumptions from what we've seen and heard but we don't know for sure.

@Amy That is my point, if found insane and sent to a mental hospital He may be released at any point they deem. No Guarantee that He wont ever be allowed back into Society.

A person suffering from Schizophrenia can understand all of the things being mentioned. They can know their name and who they are! It's their reality, delusional thinking and hallucinations that can cause the problem and especially if they are untreated. Remember that Holmes' Schizophrenia was untreated before the shooting. Zoloft doesn't treat Schizophrenia.

From the evidence and testimonies so far is sounds to me that he has a depersonalization disorder. Just my thought. Because he has a grasp on reality just lacks emotion. Even from the professors and students he lacked, but was brilliant as hell.

All the crazy stuff the shooter did after in custody, I.e. Running into walks and smearing excrement, you'd have to ask yourself.....wouldn't you? To get out of a death sentence or being put in general population?? He knew cameras were on him so to prove insanity, he did what he had to do. Just my opinion.

I copied this from an article on ABC news: " If Holmes is found not guilty by reason of insanity, he would be committed indefinitely to the state mental hospital, according to the Associated Press. He could eventually be released if doctors found that his sanity was restored, but that is unlikely. Colorado law defines insanity as the inability to distinguish right from wrong caused by a diseased or defective mind."

@Abrandt: You should probably go read up on Fenton (the psychiatrist he saw before the shooting) because she did have concerns and even reported him for it. She said herself that he was a danger yet didn't help him.

I don't know that anyone in that courtroom doubts that JH is mentally ill. That does not mean that he is legally insane. They're totally separate. Insanity is a legal term. It's not a condition as defined in psychology.

I wonder what JH is thinking through all of this. Is he just bored? Is he proud of what he's done? Is he feeling remorse? Is he thinking things got totally messed up and didn't go as planned?
