Wonderful mitigation..... I so feel for the holmes family, this must be just awful. I just have the ultimate respect for them to be able to testify to their sons failings.

@Frank...my son was troubled as a teen. I can attest that I spent over a week on the phone trying to find help. It just wasn't readily available without a 2-6 mo wait. He is great now (w/intervention). Keep seeking.

Getting tired of all these pictures, as well. Certainly agree that James grew up in a loving, caring, nurturing family environment. Apparently didn't help with his mental illness. Can we please get on with it.

There will surely not be any cross examination of Holmes' parents....that would only be contrary to the prosecution's case. There is no conceivable value to cross-examining JH's parents.

I just don't understand how some of you cannot feel compassion for this family, Just because their son is a convicted murderer. I think compassion for this testimony is a must.

I feel bad for the family. They did not do this!! James (the Adult did this).however, it is still their Son and it must hurt their souls deeply. Just like the Dr's , they can only know as much as JH has told them.

Sandy, do you expect the family of JH to get up and say he is a monster and deserves to die? The greatness of our justice system is both sides get the chance to present evidence. Though I may not agree with what he did, I appreciate that the family gets this chance
