Lisa asked about July 20, 2012. "I got a phone call from Colin, and he's a reservist stationed down at Peterson. The Air Force had called him first and said we're concerned. Jesse is not at work. He may have been in the theater shooting. And I said, 'what theater shooting?'"
She normally watches the morning news, but not that morning. She'd gone to the store to stock up for ice cream social at her work. WAs in the store when the call came in
Colin is younger brother btw
Colin called her back to tell her it was the Batman movie premiere. "Cuz I said, of course he was there, he had to be at the premiere, because he loved superhero movies"

She kept her phone at work, warned her bosses
She got the call not too long afterward
She asked Colin if she should stay at work or go home, he suggested she go home. "It was a very long drive"
Colin called again to say Jesse was not in the hospital
"Later, it was dark, I got the call and Colin says, 'Mom, he was one of the 10 in the theater'"
Her youngest son was on a camping trip, her mother-in-law was already there
Her father was at a family reunion
Lisa says she handles stress by being efficient
"I knew my son was gone and then i get a knock on the door and here comes Col. Hoff and the chaplain from Edwards AFB"
She says she "went into mom mode even though my son was gone"
Multiple funerals. She called them "celebrations of life."
One was at Buckley, another at Dove Valley (broncos facility)
Dumerville was Jesse's favorite player and met the family. Presented them with a personalized, framed jersey in honor of Jesse
They had a military funeral at Ft Logan
Friday afterward was a smaller service with the unit he worked for
Another service was at Edwards
Lisa says her husband is the complete opposite of her. "I invite everybody in and want to hug the world and tell them its ok and ask for stories, tell me about jesse... he doesn't want to talk. He doesn't want to talk about it. We talk about it personally, but he doesn't want to open the door and put it out there"
Her husband wears their son's clothing
"We talk about Jesse all the time, especially when UCLA or the Broncos are playing"
They'd call each other, text, watch sports together
