@Catherine - Agree. You're not wrong, and I'd expect a defense team to use it definitely. But it's likely he's been this way most of his life, was all I was getting at. =)
by Angela Freeman5/21/2015 5:13:45 PM
Maybe he wasn't on both at same time... given one then changed to another?
7NEWS The psychiatrist treating accused theater killer James Holmes called the University of Colorado police department six weeks before the shooting, asking for a background check, sources told CALL7 Investigators.
by Phil Tenser5/21/2015 5:13:51 PM
@Kristie. You could sumize that he took less of one than the other, but it would depend on when the prescriptions were purchased. Klonopin is highly addictive. It is a Valium derivative.
by Catherine5/21/2015 5:13:56 PM
Well, @NT8, maybe we should be concerned about your mental state then? LOL
by AJS5/21/2015 5:14:23 PM
It doesn't matter in hindsight though, does it? Because a background check wouldn't have pulled up anything on Holmes as far as I'm aware.
by Angela Freeman5/21/2015 5:16:01 PM
@AJS, Plus a laptop with the CD version of the repair Manual. Better turn myself in......
by NT85/21/2015 5:16:02 PM
@Phil: Thanks! Link with picture too!
by Kristle5/21/2015 5:16:03 PM
@Angela I agree wholeheartedly. I don't think the drugs caused his behavior by any stretch. But, the defense may try to use them to get him off.
by Catherine5/21/2015 5:16:10 PM
@AJS: I bet the jury already has a lot of questions for Dr. Fenton.
by Kristle5/21/2015 5:17:05 PM
Yea in the beginning people were saying that this whole thing was Dr. Fenton's fault. Keep in mind I'm remembering this from 3 years ago but what ever happened with the notebook that JH sent to the school 2 weeks before the the shooting detailing his whole theatre plan and the notebook was found 1 day after the shooting in a mail room or something like that?
by me5/21/2015 5:17:12 PM
While we wait: What would be your strategy for this afternoon if you were an attorney? Last hours before a 4-day weekend
by Phil Tenser5/21/2015 5:17:15 PM
@Phil, all first responders and victims!
by AJS5/21/2015 5:18:17 PM
I think that's a bit cruel to try to put all this on her.
by Angela Freeman5/21/2015 5:19:12 PM
@AJS, Does the fact I have a power inverter for recharging the laptop hurt me also?
by NT85/21/2015 5:19:14 PM
@Phil, I would do what you suggested might happen... Memorable and emotional testimony.
by KP5/21/2015 5:19:15 PM
@Phil. A shrink....the first of several I hope
by Valm465/21/2015 5:19:18 PM
@Phil more dry info, then Victims/survivors.
by NT85/21/2015 5:19:25 PM
@Phil, I would want to fill up the last hours with testimony from the victims.
by Liz5/21/2015 5:19:40 PM
@Angela. One other comment. He could have a social anxiety. However, there are many other disorders that cause social anxiety symptoms. schizoid personality disorder, schizophrenia, Anti social behavior disorders, etc. There are a bunch of them. We won't know anything until a psychiatrist gives a clearer picture. I am willing to bet this is way beyond a social anxiety.
by Catherine5/21/2015 5:20:38 PM
@Angrla, agreed. Let's place the blame where it belongs, on the person who committed the crime.
by KP5/21/2015 5:20:39 PM
I'd like to hear from the ex-girlfriend soon....but she probably will come later, with the psychologists.
by Stephany5/21/2015 5:20:56 PM
no no, let me clarify, I wasn't in anyway implying that any of this was her fault. Simply remembering what I read during the aftermath of the shooting. Alot of finger pointing in Fenton's direction.
by me5/21/2015 5:21:01 PM
@Phil Then Tuesday another Survivor, an injured one at that. Just to remind them.
by NT85/21/2015 5:21:02 PM
@NT8, you better turn yourself in. Poor you, having to fix your own motorcycle!
by AJS5/21/2015 5:21:13 PM
@Angela: I wonder if a background check requested by a psychiatrist would have been more extensive than a regular one thus revealing he was pulled over going too fast by the police officer when he was heading home from the gun range. Remember he had the gun case in the backseat.
by Kristle5/21/2015 5:21:29 PM
Dry/Boring stuff so the jury will have a peaceful weekend. THey don't want the jury to go all PTSD fearing a huge emotional load at the end of every week.
by DocJ5/21/2015 5:21:31 PM
Yea, again, wasn't blaming her.
by me5/21/2015 5:23:01 PM
@Me - I understood. Sorry, that comment wasn't directed at you. =)
by Angela Freeman5/21/2015 5:23:01 PM
@me, I think I remember somethin like that coming out when it first happened as well.
by KP5/21/2015 5:23:02 PM
Good point, Doc. I hadn't thought of that.
by AJS5/21/2015 5:23:03 PM
@Stephany: The ex-girlfriend is going to be a very interesting witness. I'm sure JH will be visibly agitated and the DT will have many objections!
by Kristle5/21/2015 5:23:44 PM
@Kristle - Hmm, maybe so. No idea. Or maybe if there's any way that it could have come up that he purchased a bunch of weapons...I dunno the laws and privacy issues surrounding all that.
by Angela Freeman5/21/2015 5:24:09 PM
Well I still think Fenton shares some of the blame. She was the only one to have some inside info.
by NT85/21/2015 5:24:17 PM
@Kristie, yes, I can't wait for the exgirlfriend. He insight will be so valuable!
by AJS5/21/2015 5:24:59 PM
I agree, NT8. She had a duty to report him knowing what he was capable of.
by AJS5/21/2015 5:26:30 PM
@Kristie: Unless her testimony is something along the lines of, "he changed from the person I initially started dating, he was acting all crazy and disconnected so I broke up with him." Then they won't be objecting.
by Stephany5/21/2015 5:26:31 PM
Wonder if these businesses that testify will gain or lose business after this. Probably neither, they'll stay the same..?
by KP5/21/2015 5:27:19 PM
As a former psychotherapist I feel Dr. Fenton really screwed this one up. State law demands that a therapist notify authorities if threats against self or others are made &HIPPA goes out the window. Abruptly leaving her care would have been an even bigger red flag & should have demanded immediate action. She 2nd guessed herself. Not good.
by DocJ5/21/2015 5:27:20 PM
Actually, the girlfriend could help JH by relating how strange he was...weird and all
by Valm465/21/2015 5:27:21 PM
I think psychiatrists are involved in quite a few law suits, etc, based on the nature of their work and their clients IMHO.
by Kristle5/21/2015 5:27:37 PM
by Phil Tenser5/21/2015 5:27:38 PM
@Valm he probably wasn't weird with her.
by Joey5/21/2015 5:29:16 PM
I have seen a new generation of kids that get off on being mean on the internet, not respecting others, playing violent video games and harming other for enjoyment. I honesty think so far that the Defendant fits into that kind of category.
by Abrandt5/21/2015 5:29:17 PM
@stephany I would think that would be good for the Defense--a sudden onset of craziness
