Theater shooting trial day 53: Start of the penalty process
Day 53 in the Aurora movie theater shooting trial – People vs. James Eagan Holmes. Today, the penalty phase of the case begins. The jury found Holmes to be legally sane and therefore guilty when he went into the midnight premiere of the Dark Knight Rises in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater and opened fire on the audience, killing 12 and wounding 70.
Hahaha! The judge knows it was a 'she'. He is not a bit happy.

EZ it did, but its already been passed around to other news media.
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 8:46:15 PM
Why is the DT so fired up? If anything, I'd think it has the potential to work in their favor... (appeal-wise?)
by fascinated 7/22/2015 8:46:18 PM
@Fascinated Orman was trying NOT to mention the fact that the foreman juror is a Columbine survivor and thats how they could have recognized him. He can't say that in court though because this is televised.
by Me7/22/2015 8:46:26 PM
I thought this would be a no brainer. Surprised they want a dvd player!!?!
by fascinated 7/22/2015 8:46:29 PM
Wow, why would they need a DVD player. The defense did not argue
by Fpsych7/22/2015 8:57:22 PM
Give them the DVD Player!!!!!
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 8:57:23 PM
From the secondary website, it appears the Newsweek tweet was re-tweeted 21 times.
by B7/22/2015 8:57:26 PM
~Me...good point. I didn't think about that.
by litprof7/22/2015 8:57:30 PM
how many phases are there..when will we know if he dies or not??
7NEWSThe sentencing phase of the Aurora movie theater shooting trial is now officially underway.
by kim.ngan.nguyen7/22/2015 8:58:29 PM
Could anyone read Orman's lips when he told Brauchler which DVD he thinks the jury wants to see?
by Lori J7/22/2015 8:58:36 PM
Don't you say in the media: Don't become the show!
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 8:58:39 PM
Reporter in courtroom could look at juror, then go an look through a yearbook to get a name and face together.
by trl27/22/2015 8:58:42 PM
Just thinkin' - unless you are trolling as " Heather"- which it seems like now you are- I never called your questions "stupid". NT8, Flip, Tammy and many others have shut "Heather" down for inaccurate statements made re: trial testimony. Maybe you just outed yourself as a double namer???? Hmmm....
by fascinated 7/22/2015 8:58:43 PM
@me guess nbc wasn't that great after all.. you're still here.
by blue7/22/2015 8:58:44 PM
Wow- 'Pretty defensive, "me"...I was just wondering about it. Those that have been here long enough see through this crazy trolling stuff. I won't dignify it with any further response.
by fascinated 7/22/2015 8:58:54 PM
Not show - story. Don't become the story.
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 8:58:55 PM
Which video clip does Orman think the jury wants? I can't remember anything relevant...
by Edy7/22/2015 8:59:00 PM
There should be sanctions, at least a hefty fine to Newsweek.
by Lori J7/22/2015 8:59:02 PM
cya me, have fun with your "better feed"
by NT87/22/2015 8:59:02 PM
Could Newsweek be fined?
by trl27/22/2015 8:59:07 PM
Twitter has only JUST NOW been brought up, "JusThinkin-slashHeather". You just unveiled yourself as a 2 namer/pot-stirrer. Congrats.
by fascinated 7/22/2015 8:59:08 PM
My feed is clear here. Must be a net issue.
by Malingering7/22/2015 8:59:10 PM
NT8 that's exactly what I was wondering about (DT strategy).

by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 8:59:18 PM
So little progress today. 😕 more time spent arguing about the PT presentation than the actual length of the presentation. Reading the jury instructions took longer than the presentation even... And now this Newsweek thing.
by Edy7/22/2015 8:59:20 PM
they are making progress
by Sunrise77/22/2015 9:01:39 PM
Edy, if they get through phase 1, that will be progress. Don't know what they are going to do about the people the DT planned to testify today. Thought some of them had to do it today.
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 9:04:39 PM
Can the defense request a mistrial because of this issue with juror 737?
by Nadine7/22/2015 9:04:50 PM
Well this is really sad!😕 I know we have a smart jury, so I am hanging in there for DP!
by Sister7/22/2015 9:04:53 PM
hey all, glad to be able to keep up with the coverage
by dragonfish0007/22/2015 9:04:55 PM
@B what are you looking at about the tweet?
by LG7/22/2015 9:04:58 PM
@sunrise - painfully and slowly
by Edy7/22/2015 9:05:00 PM
Keep on trolling folks, we are on to all of you! Take note we don't beat on you, we just Identify you.
by NT87/22/2015 9:05:06 PM
What happened with Newsweek?
by Ibby7/22/2015 9:06:05 PM
channel 7 you don't have to post this, you can if you want...why are you allowing people to post comments attacking me? I thought you don't post comments like that? I'm reading 3 comments right now that you posted. It's not the first time. For a month now people attack me for my opinion and they say something nasty about me. When I try and defend myself you don't post my comments. That seems terribly unfair.
by Me7/22/2015 9:06:18 PM
@Nadine...I wouldn't think so. It happened the verdict was given.
by litprof7/22/2015 9:06:32 PM
I'm gonna end up watching the last part of it tomorrow morning before tomorrow gets started.
by Tammy Garrison7/22/2015 9:06:34 PM
so phase 1 is being deliberated?
by peace19787/22/2015 9:12:22 PM
i'll watch tomorrow too....this is interesting
by Sunrise77/22/2015 9:12:27 PM
I thought this part was a slam dunk, they only had to agree on one, right?
