Whether this jury gives him death or not Holmes will be eventually going to the same place, which will be an administrative segregation unit (solitary confinement) at the Sterling Correctional Center in the remote plains of northeast Colorado. He will be placed in ad-seg rather than general population not because of the heinousness of his crimes but because of his status as a high profile inmate who is mentally ill and therefore a likely target of violent predators among other inmates. All 3 of CO inmates under the death penalty are in ad-seg at the Sterling facility.
