Theater shooting trial day 56: 'Phase 2' of the penalty process continues
'Phase 2' of the penalty process continues in the trial of James Holmes for the Aurora movie theater shooting. He was convicted earlier this month on 165 counts and now his defense is presenting mitigating evidence in an attempt to convince the jury his life should be spared.
@clancy you had me worried for a minute...he should never be let out....LOL to your typo.

lol firearms control - What restriction would ya have devised, that Holmes wouldnt have passed ?

My guess as to why his parents have only visited him 2 times. Traveling is pretty expensive. SD is a long way from Colorado. As far as providing an attorney for him...I most certainly couldn't afford to provide a defense for a murder trial.

I caught that too, Suzi---but didn't hear the context. Anybody know what that "not a fair and impartial jury" remark was about?

Higgs on the attack: grrrrrrrrrrrr

King is pissed. He wants to leave!
by Ann7/27/2015 11:17:10 PM
IMO JH wants the Christmas music played with the videos so he can see/hear them!
by Kristle7/27/2015 11:17:15 PM
Uh OH!!! Christmas music for JH but not for victims??? Judge's response should be interesting!
by Mr.D.7/27/2015 11:17:18 PM
Okx, I don't think any of us have the right to tell the families of the victims what they should be doing.
by Sophiamtn@gmail.com7/27/2015 11:17:29 PM
The defense says 4 of the home videos of the gunman contain Christmas music.
by anica.padilla7/27/2015 11:18:32 PM
okx...go fight the dp where it might actually count. Until it's off the table, it will still be offered in cases like this. Enough already with using this grandstand for your fight on dp. UGH!
by Marsha Laurienti7/27/2015 11:18:42 PM
the victims will be missing their 3rd Christmas this year -- how about that Higgs?
by mandi7/27/2015 11:18:44 PM
Wow--Higgs is checking with Nelson to see if, "she has anymore brilliance..." Higgs starting to lose her cool over the Christmas music.
by flip7/27/2015 11:18:48 PM
Higgs is raising her voice to the court. WOW!!!!!
by Steve7/27/2015 11:18:49 PM
Morally, does it make us better to kill someone for murder? Seems hypocritical.
by Me7/27/2015 11:18:54 PM
Agree, Sophia!
by flip7/27/2015 11:18:56 PM
The fair and impartial jury wasn't a hit on the jury, she was saying which things it went against, she stated that it wouldn't be against the fair and impartial jury. She wasn't slamming the jury.
by Marsha Laurienti7/27/2015 11:18:57 PM
The jury may be able to start deliberating at noon on Thursday.
by anica.padilla7/27/2015 11:19:29 PM
Thanks, Marsha, I just caught it and didn't understand the context
by Suzi Lewis7/27/2015 11:32:48 PM
Even good societies differentiate between different kinds of killing. To put him to death is not the equivalent of what he did.
by Tiki Torch7/27/2015 11:32:51 PM
Thanks, Marsha--I kind of thought the Judge would have pounded her down if she were actually insulting the current panel of jurors.
by flip7/27/2015 11:32:55 PM
20 states have abolished the death penalty including Washington DC. The rest will fall in line.
by Me7/27/2015 11:32:59 PM
@Marsha Laurenti okc has as much right to express his opinions here as anyone else. I've seen comments here about putting JH in front of a firing squad.
