PA Watcher, I have tried to follow Caleb Medley's story since the shooting. It is so heartbreaking to know what he is now (and always will be) missing with his son he was so excited about. He still cannot speak or walk, in addition to losing an eye. I am hoping his wife will have an impact statement in Phase 3.

I think the DT is causing more dislike than they are humanizing JH by beating his early childhood to death and not addressing any change that was perceived by the family. If there was truly a change in him, I would think that that fact would go more toward mitigation than just emphasizing the normal childhood.

I don't think for a second that this jury has checked out... that comment has been made several times thru out this trial and when it's come time for them to ask questions ... the questions they have asked have blown this chat room away and Proved the jury has been and is paying attention 100%

What a shame, the DT really could have made an impact even ever so slightly with the jury had they tried another theory of questioning the parents. There could have been a CR full of compassion, not that I haven't any compassion for them.

This doesn't humanize him. It shows he came from lots of privilege, didn't feel important enough, felt rejected, hid his growing controversial death fantasies, played video games where he could role play & practice at dominating others... & by July 20, 2012, had enough disappointment, etc. to feel entitled to "earn" being known in this heinous manner. Didn't start out thinking that, but now the picture couldn't be more clear.

I feel a ton of compassion for the parents and family, still don't have any for him. All of this has done nothing to change that. His crimes far outweigh any of this.
