Rebecca exited the military before they moved to Colorado. She pursued finishing her degree in social work
Wingo says Rebecca volunteered, brought her girls along to food banks and such
Wingo had his children at the time of the shooting
"When news first struck, i received a call or a text from an old friend indicating their child had been at a different theater but had heard about a shooting that had taken place"
"When additional details came out that it was the Century 16, I was at that time a bit relieved. I had known that she was going but we had, I had never known her to go to that theater"
'I had posted at the time that the girls and I were OK and I was not too concerned with Rebecca at that point, because I figured it wasn't the case"
"At the time, my ex-girlfriend and I were at a Walmart and I received a call from Rebecca's mother, frantic, indicating she believed Rebecca had been hurt"
"Still I thought she'd just had a night and phone died"
"As events carried on, obviously things did not pan out.
He says his children had gone to school, sent a friend to pick them up
Robert says "we were given not good news, but not specific news. and it started to look really bad at that point"
Robert says his best friend, girlfriend and he sat the girls down and that's when he let them know their mother had died that day
"Their reaction was that my oldest daughter, who was I think 9 at the time, absolutely registered it and fell apart. The news hit her very hard. My youngest daughter did not quite understand what was really happening. Which, in itself, had its own gravity"
@Poppy: I've never seen this phase of a case before, but I don't think so
Robert Wingo says his daughters have grown and become more capable of expressing themselves and understanding their situation

@SuziLewis: That's when the sentence is actually handed down, but not at this point
robert says: "Its been very difficult, but theres been lots of support. "
Robert says "They put a weight on different people that maybe they shouldn't have"
"In terms of friends, family, support system, it is a lot of stress. It is a lot of new roles thrust upon everyone. But especially for the girls, it is disorienting in every way"
Asked what he'd tell his daughters about their mom, objection sustained
"She was a very big personality and a kind heart. Very loving"
