If JH does get the DP... he will be in a cell 23 of 24 hours a day, he will get a TV, mail going in and out, things to read, 2.5 hours a week from visitor's and an hour of exercise a day, along with his 3 meals a day!

God bless Jessica Gawhi's brother in his beliefs. This trial is for all victims and their families as well. All, and that includes victim families, friends, loved ones, all those who have watch this trial, the lawyers, the judge and especially the jury will have to live with the verdict and any costs associated. Healing on any level will continue to be an ongoing process because of the evil crime committed.

I doubt any of the jurors will want to speak. I hope I'm wrong. But this case has such strong opinions and, if just for safety's sake, I doubt they will want their names and faces to be made public. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I will be shocked if they only give him life. I would think that if there were jurors who didn't think he should be put to death, they would have spent way more time deliberating.

There never was an offer of LWOP, just an offer to hear an offer, followed by a refusal to negotiate. It was a tactic to get sympathy from the public to leak via a pleading that LWOP offer had been turned down. Even the judge made a comment during trial that you can't believe what's in the pleadings.

@Sophia--I wasn't aware of the defense strategy behind that pre-trial plea offer....having watched the defense team in action for a couple of months, I am not at all surprised to learn that it maynot have been as straightforward as it sounded.

My question is this. The jury has reached it's decision and for the DP, it needs to be unanimous. So, when they said they reached a verdict, do we glean from this that all twelve voted death penalty? Or, if they had one holdout for Life, they still could say they reached a verdict? I'm confused on this issue.

@Carolet in Denver, not sure if you meant LWOP? But yes, any sentence can be appealed. Even if he were to have plead guilty from the start, as long as he were to have requested a reconsideration of his sentence at some point.

my heart goes out to all of the families who have been victims in this ordeal. speaking from experience the sentencing - whatever the outcome - will close a chapter in this horrific story but there will never be an end to the heartache, grief and sadness....that will last an eternity

My thoughts are with all of the victims families no matter their thoughts on LWOP vs DP. I respect their thoughts in regard to their loss and he was right....we never should have been here because the defendant should never have committed this crime

I have a good friend that survived Columbine and we have different thoughts on certain issues. I will never argue my opinion with her, due to my complete respect from how she had to come to her point of view

Phil-today is it for the thread, right? Regardless of sentencing -no more Jimmy-coverage (*unless he licks the walls again or argues loudly with his spleen, etc. in front of a corrections officer in order to further his mentall illness ruse & is consequently hospitalized, thus making evening news)....but today is our "goodbye" to this forum, 'no? :/

I live in CO so I get to actually pay for that creep to have a TV, books, magazines and 2 hours of "free-time" every day. It makes me sad and sick to my stomach. But I will GLADLY support the death penalty in this case. If I waivered in my thought on this in the last 3 years (and I HAVE) all I need do is listen to the 9-11 taped calls from that night. THEY MAKE MY BLOOD RUN COLD!!!!
