Theater shooting trial: Non-capital sentencing hearing

James Holmes will learn his punishment for 141 other crimes tied to this case in a hearing that begins Monday; these crimes include the charges for explosives planted in his apartment.Victims, families and the gunman will have another chance to address the court, similar to the other sentencing phase. The key difference is that there will be no jury in this hearing and the sentencing decisions will all be made by the judge.

The outcome has been a done deal for weeks. I'm glad the victims are allowed to express their emotions in front of the defendant and the court. I pray this will bring them some peace.

The dilated pupils seem to be a strange anomaly of his own nervous system. Several of the doctors testified to it during the trial.

@Face Ripper - thank you... All the comments about "heavily medicated" have been annoying. The court appointed psychiatrist indicated he was on low doses Respiradal. I'm so tired of hearing about "that guy" - THIS phase is about VICTIMS. They have my respect, sympathy and best wishes.

I have listened since the very first day of the trial. When we all made our comments, it was very civil and adult. I can clearly see that a lot of bottom feeders have come aboard, I am sure cause they have nothing better to do than to vent their anger on a murder trial blog (GAL)..however, I was here for the victims, victims families. I cannot imagine what they all go through every single day of their lives. As I myself am not completely happy with the outcome of the maniac shooter. I have to accept it. I do know this much..He is a coward and will not do well in prison. So when this is all over, we never have to see or hear from him again. Let him have his ignorant followers..let his weird family come visit him. Who cares... My Heart NOW and FOREVER will be with every single person that was in that theater. May God be with all you and my hopes are..as your pain will never go away..that someday it may get easier for ALL of you!! and Colorado will never forget the Beautiful people that were taken from us!! RIP!! and as for you Shooter Man..your hell awaits you!!

At least one or two of the victims spoke for redemption, rather than vengeance, for Mr Holmes. Braking the cycle of violence and hatred. Admirable.

it's a break. my prayers are for everyone who is hurting from what he did. Its almost over. I hope the Judge changes the decision to have him executed. Judges have overturned rulings in the past!

I'm going to send Mr. Holmes a letter. Hopefully I will be able to talk to him about Jesus. But he probably wont get it or maybe wont even care for that matter.
