James Holmes will learn his punishment for 141 other crimes tied to this case in a hearing that begins Monday; these crimes include the charges for explosives planted in his apartment.Victims, families and the gunman will have another chance to address the court, similar to the other sentencing phase. The key difference is that there will be no jury in this hearing and the sentencing decisions will all be made by the judge.

@Emma....exactly!
by Liz8/24/2015 3:38:33 PM
@Emma: the juror were NOT required to impose the DP; however, they were supposed to be OPEN to the DP. Apparently, she was flat out against the DP to begin with.
by Nadine8/24/2015 3:39:21 PM
You wonder how much emotion it would take to get anything out of the DT or the gunman, but you know what I realized? Nothing will ever be enough. There will never be enough tears, laughs, breakdowns, outburst. Nothing will ever be enough.
by Kels8/24/2015 3:39:55 PM
@ Nadine - -there is nothing to indicate she was opposed from the start. The juror may have made the decision after all the evidence. Just because you don't agree don't mean anything improper took place.
by Gamma8/24/2015 3:40:37 PM
thats not what they said. they she was opposed to the DP when they were deliberating the DP. NOT that she was against it from the beginning of the trial...
by Emma8/24/2015 3:40:43 PM
Thank you Mr. Hoover. Well said sir.
by Kristle8/24/2015 3:41:28 PM
just because she didnt vote for DP DOESNT mean she is against it completely
by Emma8/24/2015 3:41:35 PM
@Gamma: What I'm saying is that she lied during the voire dire process.
by Nadine8/24/2015 3:41:56 PM
There's no evidence of any lie. Talk about improper -- you're asserting a belief as if it is fact.
by Gamma8/24/2015 3:42:36 PM
@emma yes she was against the DP from the beginning of this trial it is in her profile that they showed of all jurors.
by Dkf8/24/2015 3:42:40 PM
people are making assumptions about her thoughts and beliefs simply based on the fact that she didnt vote the way you think she should have
by Emma8/24/2015 3:42:44 PM
and you know exactly which juror this was?
by Emma8/24/2015 3:43:31 PM
About the juror. we don't even know if it was the juror that mentioned the DP in her profile. It could have been any of the others.
by TLR8/24/2015 3:44:04 PM
Juror #17
by Gamma8/24/2015 3:44:30 PM

by Phil Tenser8/24/2015 3:44:57 PM
I am so biased but how could anyone...after listening to months of testimony and seeing evidence NOT vote for the DP.
by tjq8/24/2015 3:45:20 PM
wish that juror could be here and listen to this to see that she solely granted this monster the rest of his life
by JG8/24/2015 3:45:58 PM
And it doesn't matter JH got what he wanted life in prison. I hope someone gets to him in prison and I hope he actually goes to a real prison and not the one down in Pubelo
by Dkf8/24/2015 3:46:21 PM
Many of us do not agree with the verdict, but it is what it is and we can't go back and change it. Today is the day for the victims, and everyone involved, to speak about their feelings, about what they're going through. We can discuss what one juror did, or did not do, until the cows come home but it's not going to change a thing. That juror has to live with their decision, as all jurors have to do.
by Liz8/24/2015 3:46:50 PM
I think that the DT is finding it hard to look at the victims because they know what their client did and they are human too and would also cry along with the victims. That wouldn't be so professional so they largely look away. Yet we do need defense attorney's to complete the judicial portrait. The judge, the jury, the prosecution, and the defense are all needed.
by Cindy L8/24/2015 3:46:53 PM
People can reach different conclusion because we are allowed to use of own personal judgment, history and perspective. That's among the strongest aspects of our jury system.
by Gamma8/24/2015 3:47:00 PM
And I think the profile was on #17. She is the one who talked to the reporters about another juror who wouldn't be swayed.
by TLR8/24/2015 3:47:10 PM
people are individuals With their own thoughts and perceptions, not everyone thinks the same way as you. I think its rude to talk trash about the juror, she took on a burden none of us did

He will stay in the mental facility to get help and will be protected from General population
by tjq8/24/2015 3:49:28 PM
Coincidentally, juror 17 was dp holdout in jodi's trial
by CO Newbie8/24/2015 3:49:50 PM
I hope he is not put into the system at Pueblo--that, to me, would be a slap in the face of those who truly need the facilities. sorry, but I still think he pulled one masterful scam on the system with ANY of his claims of mental illness. It has seemed, from the beginning of the trial, to be WAY too convenient and too easy to control his actions. I hope he is put into general pop and left to fend for himself.

Where is "Miss I Object" to everything? Tamera Brady?
by Nadine8/24/2015 3:53:21 PM
@Suzie I totally agree
by tjq8/24/2015 3:54:49 PM
Unless I have misunderstood things, no one can object to anything said at this point. No one is under oath and this is to allow everyone to voice their beliefs and responses to the acts of this monster.
by Suzi Lewis8/24/2015 3:55:08 PM
Funny the guard is standing and not letting these people look at him when they leave
by Dkf8/24/2015 3:55:11 PM
@Nadine, this isn't a trial, it's just victim statements so there are no objections. They are permitted to say whatever they want to say about how this has impacted them.
by Liz8/24/2015 3:57:03 PM
@ Liz: I understand it's not a trial. I just find her absence interesting.
by Nadine8/24/2015 3:58:08 PM
Isn't she sitting on the back row where the "extra' defense attorneys sat during the trial?
by Suzi Lewis8/24/2015 3:59:09 PM
@Dk they shouldn't protect him (the police)
by tjq6128/24/2015 3:59:30 PM
YES---He has no value.
by Tired8/24/2015 4:00:57 PM
I don't think the guards are protecting the gunman. I think they are trying to spare the persons testifying from having to look at the monster.
by Suzi Lewis8/24/2015 4:01:07 PM
Was Holmes' father really smiling/laughing after the verdict?
by Gamma8/24/2015 4:01:25 PM
Victims cannot forgive someone who does not ask for it. Jesus does not forgive without first the sinner asking for it. So Holmes will have to ask every victim and he'll have to ask the Savior of many who are affected by his many sins that fateful night of July 20, 2012 for forgiveness.
by Cindy L8/24/2015 4:01:47 PM
In my opinion he should not be sent to the prison at Pubelo it is a mental facility and he was found to be sane at the time he committed
by Dkf8/24/2015 4:01:48 PM
They should be able to look at the monster when giving statements. Why
