James Holmes will learn his punishment for 141 other crimes tied to this case in a hearing that begins Monday; these crimes include the charges for explosives planted in his apartment.Victims, families and the gunman will have another chance to address the court, similar to the other sentencing phase. The key difference is that there will be no jury in this hearing and the sentencing decisions will all be made by the judge.
If these backstories are true . . . my blood runs cold.

BRAVO Mr. Teves.
by trial is over8/24/2015 6:11:16 PM
There is no overdoing it...this is the way these family members feel. It isn't done for an outcome..they already know the outcome. They are doing it for their own purpose. They are doing it for some form of closure that will never come. Talk about insensitive.
by Marsha Laurienti8/24/2015 6:11:29 PM
So with him attacking the defense, I have to wonder...do the defense attorney's get appointed to the case or do they somewhat "volunteer?" I would HATE to have to defend someone like JH
by Sarah8/24/2015 6:11:42 PM
coward king cant even look at him. PATHETIC
by JG8/24/2015 6:12:38 PM
@Sarah- both. His 2 lead lawyers are death penalty specialists, so they are "assigned" the case. The other attorneys are asked if they want to assist. No one is forced.

by Sarah8/24/2015 6:13:20 PM
Oh man, Lonnie wants to get his hands around Holmes' neck.
by Kels8/24/2015 6:13:37 PM
@Marsha, well said dear.
by Kels8/24/2015 6:14:23 PM
I have to say that there HAS to be someone who will represent the accused. There are those who are unjustly accused as well as those who do feel remorse. However, if what he says is true, it seems that there needs to be investigation into the actions of some. I have said all along that I couldn't do what the DT tried to do. They were in an untenable situation.

This defense does what they do because they don't believe in the death penalty. It isn't easy.
by CPK8/24/2015 6:15:32 PM
I ❤️ Ms. Teesh MG.

by Phil Tenser8/24/2015 6:16:06 PM
The death penalty is a vestige of an archaic era. But for this death penalty obsession the shooter would have already sunken into obscurity behind thick walls and razor wire.
by Frank8/24/2015 6:16:58 PM
Whew. Now I can get my work done!
by SNS8/24/2015 6:17:04 PM
@Phil - is there the full length video available of the interview with the prosecutors?
by Sarah8/24/2015 6:17:07 PM
Ugh my bad I thought this was with the whole group. I have it saved somewhere.. hold on pls
What was Mr. Teves talking about when he said that King assaulted him? I had never heard anything like that.
by Marsha Laurienti8/24/2015 6:19:55 PM
What was so important for King not to be in court last week???
by Victoria8/24/2015 6:20:22 PM
by SNS8/24/2015 6:20:52 PM
My question too, Marsha. What was that all about?
by Tammy Garrison8/24/2015 6:23:26 PM
Any interviews with the DT?
by Scorpion8/24/2015 6:23:57 PM
@Sarah--Members of this defense team have worked for some truly hideous murderers, even before Holmes. One of their clients killed his girlfriend by dragging her to death behind his truck. Another one kidnapped, raped, and slaughtered a young girl. A lifetime of scalding hot showers couldn't rinse that kind of garbage off....Mr. Teves was right--this defense team goes beyond the boundaries of decency in order to prevail, to "win", and they must share some of the same shame reflected off of their monstrous defendant....
by flip8/24/2015 6:25:25 PM
@flip - I was more saying in general sorry. I could never be a DA and defend anyone of a horrific crime. Just my opinion.
by Sarah8/24/2015 6:28:57 PM
I don't believe Mr. Teves should have criticized the public defenders, although I understand his pain and sorrow. He should have addressed the defendant only. This is from the Public defenders website. “The right of one charged with crime to counsel may not be deemed fundamental and essential to fair trials in some countries, but it is in ours. “Gideon v. Wainwright, 372 U.S. 335 (1963) The single overriding role of the Office of the State Public Defender is to fulfill requirements outlined in the United States and Colorado Constitutions as well as in Colorado Statutes, which establish the right to a level of criminal defense counsel services for indigent individuals charged with the commission of a crime in Colorado that is commensurate with the level of services available to those that are not indigent.

I'm trying to watch the prosecutors interviews and I can't get it to work. Is anyone else having problems? Please and thank you
by Aly8/24/2015 6:30:30 PM
Well, Rick....Mr. Teves felt strongly that the defense team, who worked overtime to help the monster that killed his son, had also done some things that were improper or morally wrong. I'm glad he got his chance to say so.
by flip8/24/2015 6:32:34 PM
I like the fact that these statements are encompassing the action during the trial and not just the 3 yrs since this horrific act of evil.
by TLR8/24/2015 6:34:45 PM
@Sarah: DA's don't defend. They prosecute.
by Nadine8/24/2015 6:40:39 PM
@Rick, he's not allowed to directly address Jimbo, unfortunately.
by cheese and rice8/24/2015 6:41:20 PM
Help, I really wanted to see Mr Teves but couldn't get to my computer. Is there anywhere I can see it?
by Etyoung8/24/2015 6:43:50 PM
Just scroll back to the guy in the white shirt. @Etyoung
by Scorpion8/24/2015 6:46:39 PM
Thank you Scorpion!
by Etyoung8/24/2015 6:47:17 PM
I feel abandoned by Phil. He's left us to post on our own.
by Tammy Garrison8/24/2015 6:47:31 PM
@7news- could you post a link to the district atty's website that Marshal referenced in his article about all the spending the Prosecution spent?
by Victoria8/24/2015 6:48:11 PM
It's a pretty Impactfull statement IMHO.
by Scorpion8/24/2015 6:48:31 PM
@Nadine - DA I meant defense attorney not district like I think you thought I meant
by Sarah8/24/2015 6:53:56 PM
I wish the death penalty was awarded to holmes. "....vestige of an archaic era."
